5:30 - 7:30 PM

Join us for an evening of Intentional Song Creation facilitated by the one-and-only Lavender Grace!

About the Event

Come co-create a communal song of healing for the future you desire!

Intentional Song Creation is a new community experience facilitated by Lavender Grace that combines the love of song, the nourishment of drumming, intentional creativity, and lessons from the bees.

In this experience we’ll explore rhythm, melody, harmony, and silence intended to support mind-body-heart-spirit coherence and community connection.

Intentional singing is a timeless form of self-generated medicine using your voice to entrain the mind and body to the natural rhythms of your heart and spirit.

Included in this experience:

  • Guided visualizations

  • Intention building

  • Rhythm exploration

  • Song Creation

  • Sound health immersion

Get ready to elevate your heart in the joy of rhythm, build your harmony muscles, and remember the sounds of your people united in song.

Lavender Grace Kent

Lavender Grace is a Poet, Musician, Artist, Mother, and Steward of the Bees. She integrates Intuitive Drum Song (IDS) with a focus on regenerative best practices here on the Mendocino coast.

Her art is informed by her ancestral lineage of song holders from the Nordic and Celtic peoples of Mother Europe. She has been immersed in the Moorish drum, song, and dance practices and traditions from the Fertile Crescent, and Mediterranean Regions all of her life.

She has been a frame drum practitioner and teacher for community wellness for over 27 years and performed her songs in Europe, Brazil, NY and CA. In combination with her lifelong love of song, Lavender brings into focus the connection between the inner imaginal realms and the outer natural world to support the healing of our people and Mother Earth.

Lavender is honored to support the community with her gifts of drum song, to spark youthful curiosity of song creation and explore the unseen realms through sound expression, as we dare to dream a beautiful future together.

"With honor, respect, and reciprocity for those who hold the story of our community well-being, we are the Evolution, Emerging, and Becoming."

VOICES OF VISION

Monday, October 14, 2024

6 - 8 PM

Join us for a soul-enlivening performance and community-connecting song circle with Shireen Amini!

We’re grateful to have Shireen, an incredible musician, storyteller and song circle guide, visiting us from Portland for this one night event!

About the Event

Come connect with song as a way to support healing and visions for change in our world!

Creating a soft container of ceremony, Shireen will guide us on a soulful journey of sound with performance, storytelling, singalong, and original medicine songs taught and sung in community.

You’ll be invited to stand up and move, or go inward and feel feelings. There will be a percussion basket open for folks to reach to at anytime and participate percussively.

Shireen Amini

Shireen Amini (non-binary using she/her pronouns in English and elle in Spanish) is a queer, Puerto Rican-Iranian-American, Earth-loving musician based in Portland, Oregon: the original territory of the Wasco, Multnomah, Chinook, Siletz, Clackamas, Cowlitz, Grande Ronde tribes and more.

As a human, she carries a deep commitment to her own liberation path and vision of a more just world. As an acoustic singer-songwriter, to this end, she blends pop, rock, hip hop, latin, and roots sensibilities with socially-conscious themes and soulful stories of change.

In 2021, Shireen released an energizing and anthemic pop-rock-soul record called Break Myself Free, a proud proclamation of her queer identity and an invitation into deeper connection with the Earth. Its title track recently won the Hope Rises II songwriting contest, selected to be among 16 others by artists nationwide on this album compilation for social change. She continues to write and release original queer medicine roots-pop like her most recent single “What I Am (A Non-Binary Song)” (2023).

With brave authenticity and heart-centered warmth, you can find Shireen performing, leading community song circles, or a delightfully blurry blend of both, in the Pacific Northwest region and beyond. She also teaches drumming, leads workshops, and facilitates grief ritual as part of her community-based music empowerment project Shireen Amini Music Medicine.
